William Morris Tapestries

January 25th 2008

William Morris tapestries are very distinctive works of art. The detail and color Morris used in his designs is less an acquired taste than it is a bold statement. Here is a brief history of William Morris tapestry hangings and how Morris himself got started weaving. The Tapestry Standard is running a blog reader only special on all William Morris tapestries from now until the end of February. Use this coupon code to get 10% off all William Morris tapestries: wmorris. Thanks for being a tapestry blog subscriber!

Hanging a Wall Tapestry

January 17th 2008

I get a lot of questions from people who are trying to decide where to hang their tapestry and also a few from people who aren’t sure how to hang their new wall art. It’s not complicated but there are some general guidelines that are good to follow. And there are actually many different ways to hang or display your tapestry. I wrote an article detailing the things you should decide before you buy and different methods for hanging. There are also tips for hanging with a tapestry rod. You can read it here: How To Hang a Tapestry and you can always email with any questions!

January 14th 2008

One of the lesser thought of but just as exciting type of tapestry accent is the tapestry handbag. They come in a variety of styles and sizes designed to meet your individual purse needs. You can get large handbags like the Mille Fleurs Tote Bag or something smaller for the evening like a tapestry clutch bag. The tapestry designs on each handbag are exquisite both in their high quality weaving and detail. Each of the handbags offered by The Tapestry Standard has a genuine leather interior complete with waterproofing treatment which makes them just as strong as they are beautiful.

Tapestry Standard Changes

January 9th 2008

I’ve made some changes to the look of The Tapestry Standard this week. Nothing drastic but I wanted to warm the age up a bit. I’d love feedback, positive or negative is fine as long as it’s constructive. You can take a look at the site here: Wall Tapestries and Hangings. I’m also looking for suggestions for new products Tapestry Standard customers would like to see offered. So far I’m looking for Belgian Lace and Tapestry Footstools. Anything else you’d like to see in the tapestry store?
