Spring Demands Some Color

March 28th 2008

Even though some areas of the country are still in a pseudo-winter with cold rain and some snow, the warmth of Spring is right around the corner. What better way to bring the renewal of Spring into your home than with whimsical woven unicorn art? The colors and the mille fleurs in these classic hangings is sure to bring a smile to your face and warmth into your home.

Spring really is a great time for fabric interior design additions. The best part is that they cost less than many paintings and framed prints. The woven nature of these hangings adds another dimension of sensation to your walls.

Famous Artists Born In March

March 26th 2008

March is a big month for artists. I feel that it is important to celebrate the births of these creative people. Their vision and talent changed how people viewed art and beauty…not to mention making the world a more beautiful place.

Michelangelo was born March 6, 1475. Most people have heard of him or have seen his work. His artistic influence has been carried on for centuries…and for good reason. His use of light and shadow helped him create a depth to paintings that would otherwise look flat and uninspired. His most famous painting was The Creation which is a section of his famous Sistine Chapel mural. Painted on the high domed ceiling of the Chapel, this extensive work of art is certainly considered his Magnus Opus.

Another wonderful artist born in March was Vincent Van Gogh. He was born March 30, 1853. The beauty of his paintings continues to inspire young artists even today. Among his many famous works, Cathedral and Chambre are perhaps the most recognizable. The use of color, shading and perspective make these works truly exceptional and unique.

Be sure to check out our Art Tapestries section for more beautiful fine art wall hangings! It’s finally getting warm enough to say…It’s Spring!

The Beauty of Landscape Wall Hangings

March 25th 2008

Why are landscapes to enticing?  They give you an alternate view of the world.  For example, if you live in the city you probably get a little tired of seeing nothing but skyscrapers and traffic lights.  So, why not hang a sweeping landscape on your wall to look at instead?

It has been shown that a peaceful surrounding environment directly effects not only your mood, but your overall health.  If you feel like you need a change of scenery, hanging a lovely landscape wall tapestry might do you some good (without all those travel expenses).

Check out our exceptional selection of wall art tapestries for your wall decor. You will love the new dimension the tapestry gives to your home decor.

You Know What Next Week Is…

March 14th 2008

That’s right! It’s officially Spring next week! I can’t wait for the warmer weather to settle in. I’m watching my crocuses spring from the ground and I’m anticipating the colorful blossoms that should be opening shortly.

Spring time is all about the first splash of color after a dark and grey winter landscape. Spring time is when people are generally the happiest, according to many studies. How can you not be when the air smells sweeter and the breezes are warm?

My favorite part of Spring isn’t the flowers nor the warmth (though they are both rather pleasant). It’s the cleaning and redecorating! Everyone is familiar with Spring cleaning. No one likes to actually do it, but once it is done everything feels like new and sparkles with the morning sun. During this whole cleaning process, I like to change my decor to reflect the new, budding season. Obviously, I’m not going to go all crazy and repaint, so I change the look and feel of my wall decor and choice of area rugs.

Usually, I am not a fan of florals. I love flowers, but I would rather have the real thing than a picture of flowers. Spring time is the only exception to that rule. I hang floral prints and tapestries in the place of my regular wall hangings to get in touch with the season. Here at the Tapestry Standard, we just got some new (and gorgeous) floral tapestries that I, personally, would love to hang.

If you want to add a splash of Spring to your home decor, I highly recommend Fiesta Primavera I and II, Aux Coleurs II and for a breathtaking Spring landscape, Evening Glow Tapestry. I just know you will love them! Enjoy and embrace the upcoming season. Here’s to Spring!!!
