New William Morris Tapestries

The MusiciansHappy Spring everyone!

I wanted drop a line to let you know about all the new William Morris tapestries that have just been added to the store. William Morris is one of the most popular tapestry lines we offer and we’re excited to be expanding it.

You can look at all the new additions here: William Morris tapestries.

William Morris was an English textile designer, artist, and writer associated with the English Arts and Crafts Movement. In 1861, Morris founded a design firm in partnership with the artist Edward Burne-Jones, and the poet and artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti which profoundly influenced the decoration of churches and houses into the early 20th century. His chief contribution to the arts was as a designer of repeating patterns for wallpapers and textiles, many based on a close observation of nature. He was also a major contributor to the resurgence of traditional textile arts and methods of production.

The new designs we have added to the store showcase people and ceremony as well as the stunning colors and patterns of nature. A few of the new additions are The Brides Maids, Departure of the Knights, The Ceremony, The Musicians, and more.

Visit the main page to all the new William Morris designs. These tapestries are artistic and colorful and their design makes them a perfect fit for any type of interior decor.

As always please send any questions to customerservice@tapestry-standard.com. We are always ready to help you choose the right tapestry for your home.

All New Wall Tapestries

Art tapestries make beautiful and classy additions to your home decor.  There are few other ways to add sophistication and color so easily and with such a wonderful outcome.  These art tapestries are all new and at low prices, as usual.

The Kiss tapestry is perhaps a favorite of ours.  There is so much color and movement in this piece – it makes a dull room sparkle with color and life.  It really makes a statement against neutral colored walls or against a warm brown.

Add the beautiful work of Van Gogh to your home with his Cafe at Night wall hanging.  The deep, rich blues of this piece set off cream walls and furniture marvelously.

This medieval art tapestry by William Morris defines the genre and time period.  The Knights of the Round Table tapestry shows off the mystical beauty of the unicorn and the deep dark of the unknown forests.

Just imagine what these tapestries can do for your home!  Come browse our selection of fine wall tapestries and save at The Tapestry Standard.

William Morris Art Tapestries

If you have never heard of William Morris or seen his work, I highly suggest you take a look at these William Morris tapestries.  He is known for patterns of swirling leaves and earthy tones.  Scenes of nature and stylized medieval designs are the typical subject matter of his work.

William Morris led a fascinating and enriching life.  He was involved not only in the arts, but also the politics of the time.  He led to the reinsurgence of handmade crafts and textiles, in the face of the Industrial Revolution.  He was also a writer, who was greatly influenced by the work of John Ruskin “Sesame and Lilies” and Thomas Malory “Morte d’Arthur”.  He and his life long friend, Edward Burne-Jones started a decorative arts firm that included artists such as Dante Gabriel Rossetti.

His most famous works are:  The Tree of Life, The Holy Grail tapestry series, and Ehret Die Frauen.  You can see more tapestry wall hangings at The Tapestry Standard.

New Tapestries Abound!

Good news everybody!  We’ve been working on adding a new line of tapestries.  It will be an on going process, but there are literally new tapestries added every single day.  The new tapestry line is from a mill in France called Pansu.  They pride themselves in weaving high quality, detailed tapestries.  Honestly, I haven’t seen any designs this nice since we opened the store with the Flanders tapestries.  They are gorgeous and there are hundreds of them to add to the store.

I will be showcasing the especially beautiful tapestries here as they are added to the store.

This enchanting Renaissance tapestry is called The Indiscretion. Notice the fine weaving and the wonderful color palette.  This is typical of the time period and looks fantastic in Victorian home decor and French Country style decor.

Verdure tapestries have been a long standing French tradition in the arts.  The verdant greens and foliage really bring nature into your home.  This is called the Forest of Bertranges.  This wall hanging makes a statement in many styles of home decor, from traditional to French Country to Contemporary.

If you love the designs of William Morris, you are in for a treat!  Les Oiseaux tapestry epitomizes the Morris style.  The swirling leaves of lovely shades of green and blue are a trademark of his work.  Les Oiseaux translates from French to English as “The Birds”.  The birds shown in this tapestry are also typical of the Morris style:  realistic, yet created in a style reminiscent of medieval wall tapestries.

I hope you enjoy these new tapestries as much as I do.  Come on economic stimulus check!  I want to buy some tapestries!  Check back daily for more new tapestries!
